I’ll Tumble For You + Morning Long Run

I woke up around 6 am this morning. That never happens on a Saturday. :)
I decided I might as well get up, take the dog out, and prep for my long run.
I started with a cup of coconut milk and pumpkin spice coffee so I could get some Ibuprofen into my system.

I made some peanut butter Ezekiel toast with blackberry jelly and this happened…

Nigel was on a different floor, in our bedroom with the door only partially open, and snuggling with John. HE HEARD ME OPEN THE PEANUT BUTTER JAR and ran to assume the position.
Cutie face got him the jar of peanut butter since it was almost done.
John heard the ruckus and decided to join us so he got some of the toast and coffee. Two and a half hours later we were off!
I ran my first ten miler for my marathon training this morning.
I completed ten miles in 1:41 and kept a nice 9:30-10:00 minute pace throughout. John ran nine and a half miles in 1:25 and we separated around mile 2. I didn’t get into a groove until then, but once I did, the run felt good.

Around mile seven, I took a really bad spill. My foot caught on something and I flew down the sidewalk.
The run was going great until that point but after the tumble, my knees felt like someone had kicked each of them. My tights tore and favorite Lululemon running gloves tore and I kept running through the mind-numbing pain.
I wasn’t trying to be hardcore. I decided that during a marathon, I might fall, and I need to train the brain to keep going.
I came home took off my tights and apparently my knees were bleeding - in fact, I lost an inch of skin on my right knee and a quarter inch on the left knee, with some odd swelling right underneath.
So. Sexy. :D

Since John finished fast, he went and brought Nigel to come meet me and the pupper ran a quarter mile with me! That’s like a half-marathon for him because English bulldogs aren’t supposed to run for too long. He came in and decided to do some hip openers. ;D

Hope you had a great morning and your weekend is ouch free.

Some days are so happy and beautiful it leaves me breathless.

My sweet boy helped me wake up bright and early so I wouldn’t have to rush. Breakfast was a mug of steaming Chai oats with unsweetened almond milk and a quarter teaspoon of brown sugar blend! Black tea gave me a little pep in my step.

Some of us had no desire to start our morning early…

…and I guess I don’t blame him. It’s completely brrr out there! However, it’s beautiful, this is the snow that sticks to your eyelashes!

Working on Pick-Ups!
I looked like a snow princess on my way to hot yoga at lunch time and I had an awesome class. I’ve done a lot of yoga, a lot of hot yoga, and been through many videos, books, classes, and more a few dozen instructors. Today’s teacher, Kathleen, still surprises me with every class. It was a C2 intermediate hot yoga class and her choreography is fresh and different and she always manages to teach me something I haven’t seen before.
She’s been pushing me to incorporate more pick-ups in my practice because it’s something I’m conservative with but she won’t let me use blocks like in the tutorial. :D

After hot yoga I enjoyed a delicious slice of Ezekiel whole grain bread with a “Chicken” patty, a slice of low-fat pepper jack cheese, topped with one of these small sweet peppers from our recent Fresh Picks order. I topped my sammie with a bright orange pepper and it was so yummy - I had to put them away so I save some for John! :)
I was craving something rich so I enjoyed half an avocado with my mixed greens salad - dressed the whole thing with lime and it was a delicious lunch!
A day like this needs to end with a warm bowl of soup. :D
Soup for Breakfast

Lentil soup with red bell peppers, onion, and juice from half a lemon, topped with a mixture of parsley, onion, cucumbers, and bulghur.
